Red Wolf Habitat at Dan Nicholas Park A red wolf habitat will be constructed at the Rowan Nature and Learning Center at Dan Nicholas Park, thanks to a $24,000 grant from the Alcoa Foundation. The red wolf was native to North Carolina, but its survival has been threatened. Experts estimate that fewer than 500 red wolfs remain worldwide.
